Northwest's Political Science program equips graduates with diverse career prospects in both public and private sectors, spanning government roles at federal, state, and local levels, legal professions, criminal justice, urban planning, education, nonprofit leadership, political campaigns, policy analysis, and international relations. The program offers three specialized tracks: Criminal Justice explores legislative systems, law enforcement, legal prosecution, and correctional institutions; Public Administration examines organizational decision-making and careers in government agencies across all levels; while Global Affairs analyzes worldwide developments and fosters cross-cultural competencies. This flexible, non-comprehensive major enables students to pair their political science studies with complementary minors, creating tailored expertise for future public or private sector employment.

Freshman admission for international students is evaluated on an individual basis. Admission is offered to students who possess academic qualifications equivalent to those required for domestic first-time freshmen. The integrity of the student's native educational system is respected in regard to the university entrance requirements in the native country. Students not eligible for university admission in their native country will not likely be granted admission to Northwest.
