The Professional Writing Certificate is an 18-credit graduate program that doesn't lead to a degree. It features an introductory course about the discipline, specialized classes examining both theoretical and practical aspects of professional writing, and an optional supervised component with internship opportunities and portfolio creation. This certificate suits working professionals and individuals in technical, scientific, business, nonprofit, and grant writing sectors.
With approval from the graduate program director, credits from this certificate may count toward the Master of Arts in English (MAE). Any certificate courses transferred to the MAE must have been completed within six years prior to MAE graduation. All certificate coursework, including transferred credits, must be finished within a six-year timeframe.
