The Composition and Rhetoric Certificate is an 18-credit graduate program offering specialized coursework that examines writing studies through the lenses of rhetorical and composition theory. This non-degree certificate suits aspiring undergraduate or secondary writing instructors, as well as professionals seeking deeper understanding of writing as a social practice and tool for change.
Certificate credits may count toward the Master of Arts in English (MAE) program, subject to the graduate director's approval. When applying certificate credits to the MAE, coursework must be completed within six years prior to MAE graduation. All certificate requirements, including transferred credits, must be fulfilled within this six-year timeframe.
