The Master of Science in Education with a Counseling specialization equips students with the professional knowledge, theoretical foundations, and practical skills essential for counseling careers. Graduates meet all academic standards established by both the Illinois State Board of Education and the National Board for Certified Counselors. The program holds national accreditation from the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Education Programs (CACREP). This concentration prepares students for counseling roles in agencies where they'll help clients address mental health challenges and developmental concerns through crisis management, therapeutic solutions, and preventive measures.

Qualification Requirements

Submit Two Letters of Recommendation to the Graduate School. Official Transcripts be sent from all of the Applicant's Undergraduate and Graduate Institutions directly to the Graduate School. An applicant whose native language is not English must present an IELTS score of 6.5 or alternatively, a TOEFL score of at least 80 on the TOELF ibt. Normally, to be considered for admission, a non-U.S. citizen shall have completed a four-year undergraduate degree. A minimum 2.75 overall GPA on a 4.00 system or a 3.20 GPA with 15 or more semester hours of graduate work at an accredited institution.
