The Master of Music (M.M.) program requires 32 semester hours, including 13 hours of core courses and 19 hours focused on one of three concentrations: music education, music performance, or a customized track. Students can create a personalized specialization by choosing from existing courses, seminars, independent studies, internships, or special projects available both on and off campus. While this tailored program may overlap with other concentrations, it should maintain a unique focus. The individualized track may incorporate interdisciplinary studies that blend music with fields like anthropology, art, business, computer science, dance, theater, electronics, ethnic studies, mental health, or special education, or it may center exclusively on music. Past M.M. students have pursued specialized studies in areas such as music history, theory, composition, world music, jazz, audio recording, and computer music with new media technology.
