The Master of Arts in history is designed for students interested in extending their undergraduate knowledge of historical issues, who wish to prepare for jobs in historically related fields or who are interested in teaching at the secondary or community college levels. Students pursuing the M.A. degree in history must satisfactorily complete 30 semester hours of approved credits. A minimum of 24 semester hours must normally be in history courses. The balance may be in history courses or in courses in an approved cognate field or fields.

Qualification Requirements
An applicant whose native language is not English must present an IELTS score of 6.5 or alternatively, a TOEFL score of at least 80 on the TOEFL ibt. Normally, to be considered for admission, a non-U.S. citizen shall have completed a four-year undergraduate degree. A minimum 2.75 overall GPA on a 4.00 system or a 3.20 GPA with 15 or more semester hours of graduate work at an accredited institution.
