The graduate certificate program in law and women's and gender studies enables students to explore the relationship between gender and legal systems through rigorous examination of feminist theory, gender-related scholarship, and legal studies. Upon fulfilling the certificate requirements, students receive formal acknowledgment on their academic transcripts. This program is open to currently enrolled students maintaining satisfactory academic standing in the College of Law or any university graduate program, as well as qualified students-at-large. Courses counting toward the certificate are taught by faculty from diverse academic departments and colleges. Prospective certificate candidates should schedule early consultations with either the Center for the Study of Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies director or the College of Law associate dean to plan their course selections for the certificate program.

Qualification Requirements

An applicant whose native language is not English must present an IELTS score of 6.5 or alternatively, a TOEFL score of at least 80 on the TOEFL ibt. Normally, to be considered for admission, a non-U.S. citizen shall have completed a four-year undergraduate degree. A minimum 2.75 overall GPA on a 4.00 system or a 3.20 GPA with 15 or more semester hours of graduate work at an accredited institution.
