The educational leadership and policy studies doctorate program equips students with essential conceptual, interpersonal, and technical competencies needed for effective leadership roles across educational institutions, including superintendent positions. This program strengthens your leadership capabilities and decision-making processes while fostering reflective practice. The Ed.D. in educational leadership and policy studies prepares graduates for administrative and leadership careers in schools, higher education institutions, and related organizations. Through comprehensive coursework, the doctoral curriculum develops the conceptual frameworks, interpersonal skills, and technical expertise necessary for successful educational leadership, with particular focus on research methodologies, leadership's societal impact, community dynamics, and organizational theory.

Qualification Requirements

An applicant whose native language is not English must present an IELTS score of 6.5 or alternatively, a TOEFL score of at least 80 on the TOELF ibt. Preference is given to experienced administrators who hold a master's degree from an accredited university, with a minimum graduate GPA of 3.50. all official transcripts from institutions of higher education, scores on the GRE, three letters of recommendation from professors and/or practicing school administrators who hold state licensure.
Students wishing to obtain the Illinois Superintendent Endorsement as part of the Ed.D. program in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies must first complete the 30 credit hour Ed.S. program in Educational Administration w/ Superintendent Endorsement. Upon admission into the Ed.D. program, 30 hours of Ed.S. course work credit can transfer into the doctoral program to fulfill the concentration course work requirement.
An applicant for admission to the Ed.D. program in educational leadership and policy studies must submit

all official transcripts from institutions of higher education,
three letters of recommendation from professors and/or practicing school administrators who hold state licensure.
