Geography examines places and their positions, investigating the reasons behind spatial distributions and how regional traits influence natural phenomena, ecosystems, and human behavior. It delves into our relationship with the physical world, including how we modify and govern it. As an applied science, geography not only enhances our comprehension of the planet but also equips us to adjust and prosper within it. The geography major allows students to deepen their expertise in a particular geographic field by selecting specialized courses from three concentrations: human geography, geographic information systems (GIS), or physical environmental systems. Through careful elective choices, students can fulfill the educational requirements for federal positions as soil scientists or hydrologists.
