Studying history forms the foundation for becoming an engaged, ethical, and well-spoken member of society while preparing for diverse career paths. Our curriculum focuses on cultivating abilities in socio-historical evaluation, investigative methods, and written communication, alongside offering personalized study options that enable students to explore individual interests while developing a comprehensive understanding of global historical contexts. The six-year combined program awards both a Bachelor's in Art History and a Juris Doctor degree. Prospective students must declare their intention to pursue this accelerated track to the Art History Department. Eligible candidates include undergraduate art history majors who have completed at least 90 credit hours with a minimum 3.25 GPA, qualifying them to apply to NIU's Law College through this specialized pathway. Applicants must achieve an LSAT score exceeding the 50th percentile of the prior year's admitted law students and are encouraged to complete testing and submit applications by February of their junior year. Acceptance is competitive, with decisions influenced by the applicant pool's size and qualifications, general law school admission statistics, and standard Law College admission criteria.
