If that's the case, this program can equip you to support bilingual and multicultural students in educational settings.
Our degree prepares graduates for roles as bilingual educators, ESL instructors, resource specialists, or teachers integrating bilingual/ESL support in mainstream or specialized classrooms. These skills are increasingly sought-after nationwide. Intermediate proficiency in a second language is required for bilingual teaching positions. The program also fulfills Arizona's Bilingual Endorsement criteria. The ESL graduate certificate trains educators for positions as ESL teachers, resource specialists, or instructors providing English language support in various classroom environments. Participants acquire expertise in developing ESL competencies across reading, writing, and listening domains while learning to engage families and communities. The curriculum includes historical context about English learners in America. Graduates will master techniques for evaluating language proficiency and subject knowledge, along with understanding different educational approaches. They'll explore current ESL research and learn to apply theoretical frameworks in classroom settings to enhance all students' oral and literacy skills.
