Northeastern's Master of Science in Counseling Psychology program prepares students to become Licensed Mental Health Counselors (LMHC) through cutting-edge training grounded in Counseling Psychology principles. The program employs an ecological perspective, teaching students to view individuals within broader social and economic contexts. Through research and hands-on clinical experience, students gain expertise in urban, preventative, and community-focused interventions to serve diverse populations effectively.
The MSCP curriculum meets all LMHC licensure requirements

Qualification Requirements

An undergraduate major in psychology or its equivalent (6-8 courses with emphasis on the science of human behavior)
A minimum grade point average of 3.0 (program average is 3.5)
Two letters of recommendation (academic and professional)
Personal statement of goals and expectations.
Evidence of some experience with and commitment to helping relationships. Professional goals and personal development in line with the program.
Personal interview with faculty
TOEFL or IELTS (International Students)
Official transcript from baccalaureate program and all college coursework
A minimum score of 100 in the iBT TOEFL is preferred
A minimum score of 7.5 in the IELTS Academic is preferred
