Bioengineering applies engineering principles within biological systems, whether in the human body, ecosystems, or bioreactors. Each scenario presents distinct challenges at the intersection of engineered and living systems, influencing how devices, tools, or implants are designed and applied. These considerations vary based on the biological system's characteristics and the intended functionality.

The fusion of engineering and medical science through bioengineering promises to be among the most thrilling pursuits and significant breakthroughs of our century. Career prospects are projected to grow substantially, driven by innovations in product development, medical instruments, and implant technologies. The potential benefits for healthcare are immense. As a fundamentally interdisciplinary field, bioengineering requires students to master the terminology used across diverse teams. Accordingly, our program centers on six foundational courses that examine biological systems from multiple quantitative perspectives. After completing this core, students specialize in one of four focus areas, allowing them to cultivate advanced expertise in a particular bioengineering discipline.
