Northeastern University's graduate program in Advanced Practice Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing equips nurses to deliver comprehensive mental health care across all age groups, from children to adults, in diverse settings including community health centers, schools, and outpatient clinics. Recognizing students' varying career stages, we provide adaptable program formats with both part-time and full-time options to accommodate different schedules. The curriculum primarily features online coursework with asynchronous learning, supplemented by occasional synchronous virtual sessions for specialized courses like PMHNP theory and practicum. Students attend two on-campus clinical intensives during the program - immersive weekend sessions focused on skill refinement, faculty collaboration, and certification exam preparation. Graduates become eligible to take the national Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner certification examination administered by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
