Our Master of Arts in Political Science equips students with expertise in fundamental political science disciplines, including American government, international relations, comparative politics, and public policy, along with specialized tracks in security studies, European studies, and Middle East studies. The MA curriculum prepares graduates for doctoral studies or professional roles in government agencies, nonprofits, or private enterprises. Alongside core coursework, students can choose from theoretical or practical courses, internships, thesis research, or independent study projects. They may also concentrate their studies in one of five key specializations: American government and politics, comparative government and politics, international relations, public policy, or security studies.
For years, our accomplished MA graduates have launched diverse careers. Some leverage the program's advanced research courses shared with PhD candidates to prepare for doctoral studies, while others establish careers in government at all levels or in international development and diplomacy.
The program offers flexibility beyond core requirements, allowing students to select theory-based or applied courses, complete internships, develop a thesis, or pursue independent research. They can also specialize in one of five primary focus areas: American government and politics, comparative government and politics, international relations, public policy, or security studies.
Our alumni have achieved remarkable success across various fields. Many transition into PhD programs, benefiting from our graduate-level research courses, while others build careers in public service at federal, state, or local levels, or in international affairs and development.
