The Master of Arts in Educational Leadership program equips students with research-based leadership skills while fulfilling the California Commission on Teaching Credentialing (CCTC) standards for a Preliminary Administrative Services Credential (PASC). This MA program trains future administrators for California's K-12 public school system, where the PASC is mandatory for all administrative positions.
Beyond meeting CCTC requirements for the PASC credential, the Master of Arts in Educational Leadership program develops students' ability to apply research to leadership practice. Graduates are prepared for administrative careers across California's public K-12 schools, where the PASC is an essential qualification.
The program combines developmental and constructivist educational approaches. Participants learn to implement theories in real-world settings, predict outcomes, and assess results across diverse educational environments. Alumni consistently achieve success as school administrators and education reformers, with graduates working in 21 Bay Area districts spanning Alameda, Contra Costa, Sacramento, San Francisco, San Mateo, and Santa Clara counties. This dual-purpose program awards both a master's degree and the PASC credential. Following the PASC, graduates can pursue a Clear credential, enabling them to continue as school administrators in California's public K-12 system beyond the five-year preliminary certification period.
