The Doctor of Philosophy in Political Science program builds upon the fundamental areas of political science: American government, comparative politics, international relations, and public policy. Candidates select primary and secondary specialization fields. The coursework provides foundational knowledge across these disciplines while enhancing research capabilities through methodological training. Students can pursue either a conventional academic path within a single field or integrate public policy for a more applied approach. This program equips graduates for careers in academia, research institutions, and public sector roles. Degree requirements involve completing core courses, passing comprehensive written and oral exams, and successfully defending a dissertation before faculty. Our PhD program encompasses four key disciplines: American government, comparative politics, international relations, and public policy. While students gain exposure to all areas, they focus their studies on primary and secondary concentrations.
