The Theatre Department thrives as a dynamic collective of students, staff, and professors, united by principles of kindness, honesty, mutual regard, and academic excellence. Serving as a center for artistic investigation, we commit ourselves to performance arts as both a evolving craft and a cross-disciplinary field of study.
Our undergraduate programs integrate hands-on theatrical creation (including staging, technical design, and acting) with scholarly learning and research through practice. Students gain extensive exposure to and thorough understanding of theatre as a multifaceted artistic discipline. The curriculum equips learners to produce and share insights via inventive creative research, work together with openness and principle, employ antiracist theatrical methods, pursue professional opportunities that foster meaningful, principled, and socially conscious contributions promoting equity, and emerge as engaged individuals who critically examine theatre's cultural, communal, and moral influences on society.
