The linguistics major aims to equip students with comprehensive knowledge in both structural and social aspects of language study. Structural coursework examines language's internal frameworks and analytical approaches to identify these fundamental elements (such as in phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics classes). Social-oriented courses explore theories and methodologies for analyzing language in societal contexts (including language and culture, sociolinguistics, and gender-related language studies). Supplementary classes integrate interdisciplinary perspectives to broaden students' comprehension of diverse language-related fields (encompassing areas like psycholinguistics, language development, and historical linguistics).
