The Departments of Sociology & Anthropology and Philosophy & Religion provide an interdisciplinary dual major combining cultural anthropology with philosophy. This program allows students to merge the examination of cultural systems and societal frameworks with explorations in social/political philosophy, ethics, and philosophy of science. The dual major helps students recognize and value diverse cultural perspectives in human relationships, knowledge systems, and logical frameworks. Philosophy explores fundamental inquiries and conceptual models regarding morality, community, spirituality, and both natural and social sciences. Philosophy courses equip learners with knowledge of philosophical methodologies and historical traditions while fostering critical, collective contemplation about existence and humanity's place within it. Through textual analysis, dialogue, and written work, students investigate issues surrounding the legitimacy of ethical positions, political ideologies, and scientific paradigms, along with value-based considerations in fields like jurisprudence, healthcare, ecology, and innovation.
