The Departments of Communication Studies and Theatre present an interdisciplinary combined major that blends communication theory with theatrical arts. This program merges creative exploration of performance, literature, playwriting, and direction with essential skills in research, public speaking, critical analysis, and effective writing. Both disciplines share core principles of artistic expression, teamwork, and examining theater's role in cultural, social, and ethical communication.

The Communication Studies Department focuses on equipping students with both practical communication abilities and theoretical knowledge to succeed in our evolving world. Students must achieve proficiency in core communication principles, grasp foundational theories and applications, and specialize in a chosen focus area. Popular specializations range from debate and public advocacy to organizational dynamics, health communication, cross-cultural exchange, digital media, and content creation. The program aims to deepen comprehension of human interaction across diverse settings, foster active citizenship, and cultivate tools for fulfilling personal and career development.
