Students can design their own Associate in Arts program with a humanities and cultural focus by selecting electives and degree distribution courses from VLPA and ICS offerings. Working with an advisor, you can assemble a curriculum that explores cultural perspectives through literature, film, anthropology, political science, ethnic studies, gender studies, philosophy, sociology, history, music, and art.
This humanities foundation explores shared concepts, questions, and themes across civilizations and historical periods. The curriculum addresses topics like race, gender, and socioeconomic status in contemporary society, worldwide trends, and equity initiatives. You'll develop critical thinking skills, enhance research and communication abilities, and pursue understanding through multidisciplinary approaches.
