The Biomedical Engineering (BME) graduate programs, including both Master of Science (M.S.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees, are collaborative initiatives between North Dakota State University's College of Engineering and the University of North Dakota's School of Medicine and Health Sciences along with its College of Engineering and Mines.

These BME programs enable technically skilled individuals to gain specialized expertise in high-demand industry areas while expanding their career prospects. The interdisciplinary graduate programs aim to:

Serve regional students pursuing biomedical engineering education.
Encourage participation from women and underrepresented groups in this emerging field.
Provide comprehensive training through coursework and research focused on biomedical innovations and device creation.
Expand biomedical knowledge through joint research projects led by faculty from UND's medical and engineering schools, NDSU's engineering college, and other qualified researchers from both institutions.
Foster economic growth by developing intellectual property through biomedical research, leading to new company formations and business opportunities.

Qualification Requirements

a) Bachelor of Science degree from an ABET accredited engineering program.

Students holding a B.S. degree in other disciplines may be admitted to Qualified Status with an obligation to acquire the necessary background undergraduate engineering knowledge. The exact requirements will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
b) Minimum GPA is 3.0 (4.0 scale) is required. Conditional admittance may be obtained for GPA less than 3.0.

IELTS: 6.0 (academic version)
