The Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (ABEN) provides advanced degree programs culminating in Master of Science (M.S.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) qualifications. The curriculum focuses on addressing engineering challenges related to crop cultivation, food and biofuel production, and environmental stewardship. Specialized study options include: water management systems for agriculture, agricultural water science, conservation of land and water resources, animal waste treatment, atmospheric conditions, bio-processing techniques for food and renewable fuels, agricultural machinery technology, smart farming systems, optical recognition and sensor technologies for biological applications, and preservation methods for organic materials and biomass storage.

Qualification Requirements
The ABEN graduate program is open to all qualied graduates of universities and colleges of recognized standing. To receive full standing admission to the program, the applicant must meet the Graduate College's admission requirements and have a baccalaureate degree in engineering or have taken the equivalent of the basic undergraduate engineering courses.
At the baccalaureate level, the applicant must have earned a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0, or equivalent, to attain full standing in a graduate degree program. Applicants whose last degree completed is a graduate degree may be admitted in full standing if the final GPA of that degree is at least 3.0 or equivalent.
