The Department of Transportation, Logistics, and Finance provides a doctoral program in Transportation and Logistics. This advanced degree is granted by the College of Business in partnership with the Upper Great Plains Transportation Institute. The curriculum adopts a multidisciplinary perspective on transportation and supply chain systems, drawing students from diverse academic fields including supply chain operations, transportation studies, agricultural business, applied economics, civil engineering, construction management, disaster preparedness, financial studies, earth sciences, and production engineering.

Earning the Ph.D. necessitates completing at least 90 graduate-level credit hours after obtaining a bachelor's degree.

Qualification Requirements

The Transportation and Logistics Ph.D. program is open to qualified graduates of universities and colleges of recognized standing. To be admitted with full standing, the applicant must:

Hold a master's degree (preferred) from an educational institution of recognized learning, baccalaureate degree a minimum.
Have adequate preparation in one or more of the disciplines comprising transportation and supply chain.
Have shown the potential to undertake advanced study and research as evidenced by prior academic performance
Have earned a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 or equivalent in all courses completed at the highest education level reached
Submit an NDSU Graduate College application consisting of the application, letter of intent, official transcripts, letters of reference, and English proficiency scores (if applicable). Additional documents that may be submitted could include resume and professional vita. Applications for admission will be submitted via the Graduate College website. Applicants must meet all application requirements of the graduate school and department before being considered for acceptance.

At the baccalaureate level, the applicant must have earned a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0, or equivalent, to attain full standing in a graduate degree program. Applicants whose last degree completed is a graduate degree may be admitted in full standing if the final GPA of that degree is at least 3.0 or equivalent.
