The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering provides advanced degree programs in specialized fields, awarding M.Engr., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Faculty research focuses on several key disciplines: Biomedical Engineering, Communications/Signal Processing, Computer Architecture, Cyber Physical and Embedded Systems, Electromagnetics/Optics, Power/Power Electronics, and VLSI. Additionally, the ECE Department plays a vital role in NDSU's Research and Technology Park.
To earn a Doctor of Philosophy degree, students must complete at least 90 credits post-baccalaureate while maintaining a 3.0 GPA or better. This includes a minimum of 36 credits in graduate-level courses and 30 dissertation credits, with ECE 702: Advanced Research Topics (1 credit) being mandatory.
