The History education program covers multiple historical disciplines, including European, American, and global studies. Students pursuing this major gain the skills to deliver comprehensive historical instruction to diverse learners.
History education majors develop the ability to teach grades 5-12 with innovative approaches and self-assurance. These future educators should consult regularly with advisors to ensure their general education courses establish a solid base for upper-level coursework. Our specialized classes equip teacher candidates with techniques for implementing interactive lessons, designing evaluation tools, and adapting teaching methods for different learning preferences.
Prospective teachers can take 300-level education courses before official acceptance into the School of Education (SOE). To progress to 400-level classes, candidates must submit an SOE application, maintain a minimum 2.75 GPA across all subjects and education courses, and achieve passing scores on either the Praxis Core or ACT exams. Detailed admission criteria are available on the School of Education's official website.
