The NDSU Challey School of Music boasts exceptional students, dedicated faculty, skilled staff, and top-notch facilities. With continuous accreditation from the National Association of Schools of Music since 1970, the program maintains a rich legacy of ensemble excellence tracing back to 1904. Our faculty and staff are passionate about delivering exceptional musical experiences for every NDSU student, whether pursuing professional musicianship or simply exploring musical offerings. North Dakota State University provides the region's most extensive music degree programs and exceptional performance opportunities. The Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in music combine liberal arts education with musical specialization, requiring either foreign language proficiency or a supplementary minor alongside core curriculum and music electives (18-19 credits). The Bachelor of Music (B.Mus.) with a music education focus prepares students for K-12 certification in North Dakota and meets Minnesota's basic requirements. Performance-focused B.Mus. graduates pursue professional careers or advanced studies, specializing in instrumental, vocal, or piano performance. NDSU additionally offers graduate programs including the Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees.
