The dual-degree program combining human development and family science with social work provides students with comprehensive understanding of individuals and families throughout all life stages, equipping them for careers in human services. This program delivers diverse competencies to help graduates meet the evolving challenges of contemporary society while qualifying for North Dakota social work licensure. Participants simultaneously pursue either the family science or adult development and aging track in human development and family science (HDFS) at North Dakota State University alongside Minot State University's (MiSU) social work program. Successful completion results in dual degrees: a Bachelor of Science from NDSU and a Bachelor of Social Work from MSU. Through a collaborative arrangement, students complete all coursework at NDSU, with MiSU faculty delivering social work classes either in-person or via distance learning. The combined HDFS and social work curriculum creates a robust educational foundation, merging studies in human development, family dynamics, social welfare systems, behavioral science, and research methods with complementary coursework in economics, psychology, sociology, and political science within a broad liberal arts framework.
