Economics has been a cornerstone of academic programs at North Dakota State University for many years. NDSU economics students benefit from learning under an experienced and distinguished faculty. With students from across all university colleges enrolling in economics courses, these classes foster diverse perspectives through peer interactions. The Department provides two specialized paths for economics majors: a general economics option and a quantitative economics option. The general track allows greater flexibility in course selection, requiring 15 credits of economics electives (with up to 3 credits potentially in agricultural economics, finance, or business administration). The quantitative track caters to students aiming for graduate studies in economics or preferring a more mathematically rigorous approach. Those with strong quantitative or statistical skills are particularly well-suited for the quantitative economics track.
