Spanish Education focuses on acquiring proficiency in the Spanish language and understanding its cultural context, while also building teaching competencies. The curriculum combines language-focused coursework with pedagogical training.

Students pursuing this major receive comprehensive preparation for language instruction through a dual approach: specialized language courses taught by Modern Languages faculty and professional education classes led by School of Education (SOE) professors. Beyond core requirements, Spanish Education students must complete study abroad experiences in Spanish-speaking countries. This program equips future educators to teach Spanish effectively in grades 5 through 12.
