Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM) offers an excellent career path. As the country's top retail employment sector, this industry provides jobs for countless individuals. The need for skilled managers rises alongside expanding service demands. This growth comes with heightened expectations for comfort, efficiency, and tailored guest experiences. These trends create greater opportunities for competent professionals to oversee hospitality businesses and guide teams. NDSU's HTM program aims to cultivate capable leaders for this vibrant industry. Through specialized coursework, students gain industry expertise, hone leadership abilities, and strengthen decision-making skills while developing professional ethics. As North Dakota's sole four-year ACPHA-accredited HTM program, we maintain rigorous standards to deliver exceptional hospitality education. Our curriculum blends essential general education with specialized training in managing hospitality resources like personnel, finances, and operations. Advanced courses focus on practical projects, service quality assessment, and operational excellence in tourism enterprises. Students can select electives in diverse areas including culinary operations, gaming management, resort operations, and event coordination. The program requires a 24-credit Business Administration minor, providing crucial commercial knowledge that complements hospitality-specific marketing and management training. A minimum 2.5 GPA is required for business course enrollment.
