The Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering provides bachelor's degree programs in civil engineering, construction engineering, and environmental engineering. Graduate studies are available in various specializations including computing systems, construction engineering, water resources and coastal environmental engineering, structural mechanics, transportation systems, and geotechnical/geoenvironmental engineering.

The Computing and Systems program is an interdisciplinary initiative where faculty tackle challenges across civil and environmental engineering disciplines. Students can choose from graduate and undergraduate courses covering civil engineering systems, computational techniques, numerical analysis, advanced computing, evolutionary algorithms, stochastic processes, complex systems, IT modeling, and inverse modeling techniques. Alumni find employment with engineering firms, government organizations, research labs, academic institutions, and leading tech companies like SAS, Cisco, IBM, Microsoft, GE, and Intel.

Qualification Requirements

A bachelor's degree in engineering. Most of our graduate students have a background in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related engineering discipline (e.g., Chemical and Mechanical). Many successful students in our programs have backgrounds in a variety of engineering disciplines.
Applicants without a degree in a related field will need to take required background courses to bridge the non-engineering gap.

GPA 3.0 or above:
An overall GPA of at least 3.0/4.0.

IELTS scores with an overall band score of at least 6.5. Minimum test scores for each section are listed below: Listening 6.5, Reading 6.5, Writing 6.5, Speaking 6.5

TOEFL with a total score of at least 80 on the Internet-based Test (iBT), and with minimum test scores for each section of: Listening 18 points, Reading 18 points, Writing 18 points.

Computer-based TOEFL scores must be 213 or higher (with at least 17 on three sections and no section score below 13). The paper-based test requires a score of 550 or higher (with scores of 50 on at least two of the three sections and no section score below 45).
