Our department focuses on breeding, genetics, and molecular plant biology research across various crops including corn, cotton, peanuts, small grains, turfgrass, soybeans, and tobacco. We prioritize creating improved cultivars and germplasm lines that offer higher yields, better pest resistance, enhanced nutritional value, superior flavor profiles, and greater resilience to environmental challenges. The department is deeply invested in advancing and conserving germplasm resources. Several initiatives concentrate on gathering, assessing, and applying germplasm from rare and non-native plant species.

IELTS Academic-6.5 or higher (minimum of 6.5 in each sub score), Provide Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a total score of at least 80 on the Internet-based Test (iBT), and with minimum test scores for each section of: Listening 18 points, Reading 18 points, Writing 18 points, Speaking 18 points for admission , Toefl paper-based test requires a score of 550 or higher (with scores of 50 on at least two of the three sections and no section score below 45). To be considered for admission in full graduate standing, applicants must have: a four-year bachelor's degree (or equivalent) from a regionally accredited college or university. Exceptions to standard accreditation may be granted for applicants with international degrees, including applicants with three-year degrees from institutions in Europe participating in the Bologna Process. a GPA of at least 3.00 (on a 4.00 scale) in their undergraduate degrees.
