Political science involves the systematic examination of governance, political systems, and policy development. Earning a degree in political science serves as an ideal pathway for those aspiring to careers in government, nonprofit work, legal fields, business, NGOs, or global institutions. NCSU's political science majors gain unique advantages from the university's close location to state legislative bodies, administrative offices, governmental departments, political party centers, campaign strategy firms, policy research organizations, and activist groups. Those with STEM interests can opt for the Bachelor of Science track. Our undergraduate programs offer both focused concentrations and flexible curricula to match individual aspirations. Students can choose between two 122-credit degree paths: the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) or Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Political Science.
