The Paper Science & Engineering program is jointly administered by the College of Engineering and the Department of Wood and Paper Science, integrating chemical engineering, chemistry, environmental science, and business management. This curriculum immerses students in science, engineering, and advanced technology, with a strong focus on solving practical challenges and creating innovative products and sustainable processes. It is the nation's premier program in its category. Despite the digital age, the paper industry remains robust, and specialists in this area are highly sought after. Our ABET-accredited program merges chemical engineering, environmental science, and business principles to transform trees into essential goods, ranging from shipping and packaging to household and medical items. As a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) major, students acquire a thorough knowledge of the paper manufacturing process and the conversion of biomass into valuable products.
