The Bachelor of Science in Agroecology and Sustainable Food Systems emerged as an interdisciplinary program, combining strengths from Horticulture and other departments. This collaborative approach offers students enhanced learning opportunities through shared departmental resources and knowledge.
With agricultural professionals representing under 1% of the national population, broadening participation becomes essential. The program actively works to increase diversity among students, particularly welcoming more women and underrepresented groups. Current enrollment shows promising trends, with female representation in core courses rising by 50%, attracting students from both agricultural and non-agricultural backgrounds to explore farming and urban agriculture.
