In our modern, interconnected society, individuals are increasingly united in a realm of opportunities and obstacles. Both our personal and shared experiences continuously mold this world, just as we are profoundly affected by events occurring in its most distant regions. The International Studies (IS) program at NC State University offers an interdisciplinary approach, equipping students to thrive in a world where global connections coexist with divisions. Students select from various concentrations such as Africa, Europe, Latin America, East and Southeast Asia, South Asia and the Middle East, International Economy and Environment, International Relations, and International Cultural Studies. Each concentration provides a diverse selection of courses across multiple academic disciplines. Every IS major completes three core courses, gains proficiency in a foreign language, and participates in study abroad programs. Through this comprehensive curriculum, students develop skills to navigate cultural differences, understand global economic forces, and interpret the evolving political landscapes that define our interconnected planet.
