The Arts Studies program is an Interdisciplinary Studies degree that enables students to establish a core understanding in an artistic discipline while exploring its societal or technological applications in contemporary contexts. Potential focus areas encompass digital arts, scientific visualization, arts administration, and arts instruction.
The curriculum requires 21 credit hours of Core Courses designed to create connections between artistic disciplines and broader human endeavors. These foundational courses must concentrate on one artistic field: Film Studies, Music, Theatre, or Visual Arts. Beyond these requirements, students complete 6 credit hours of studio/practical courses, 6 credit hours of interdisciplinary bridge courses, a guided elective, and a culminating Capstone experience.
This major and concentration prepares graduates for diverse arts-related professions, ranging from creative fields like filmmaking and musical composition to organizational roles in arts leadership, cultural policy, arts journalism, and pedagogical positions in arts education.
