The Peacebuilding specialization equips graduates to foster more harmonious communities across local, national, and international contexts. At the Center for Global Affairs, this program focuses on enhancing and restoring relationships at all levels, from international diplomacy to grassroots initiatives. Unlike conventional approaches like conflict resolution, peacebuilding specifically targets the root causes of violence through transformative processes. Students gain essential knowledge and practical skills to promote societal harmony through various channels, including government agencies, international bodies, NGOs, and corporate entities. The program's capstone course—the Applied Peacebuilding Workshop—allows participants to design initiatives with peacebuilding professionals in spring and execute them in real-world settings during summer. Peacebuilding students must complete the foundational course below, followed by five regularly offered elective courses (each worth 3 credits).
