Qualification Requirements

You must have completed the following content core requirements for your intended teaching certification area, as regulated by the New York State Education Department, prior to enrollment:

30 semester hours in English or dramatic literature or an equivalent
30 semester hours of theatre or educational theatre
If you have fewer than 30 prerequisite points or credits in these areas on admission, you will be required to take additional coursework as part of your master's program.

We review all applications individually and holistically, but our expectation is that successful candidates for admission to any NYU Steinhardt MA program in teacher education will have a minimum 3.0 undergraduate grade point average. Special consideration may be granted to strong candidates with a GPA below 3.0.

You must have the equivalent of a regionally accredited four-year US bachelor's degree before beginning your studies at NYU Steinhardt to be considered for admission.
