The JD/MBA dual degree program addresses this demand by delivering expertise in both commercial legal frameworks and business operations, equipping students for professional success across legal and corporate sectors. Alumni of this program have advanced into diverse roles including private practice, in-house legal teams, startup ventures, commercial enterprises, financial services, charitable organizations, and public sector positions.
Whereas completing separate JD and MBA degrees normally spans five years, this accelerated dual program condenses the curriculum into four years. Students dedicate their initial two years to legal studies, transition to NYU Stern for the third year, and split their final year between both institutions.
Modern enterprises require executives capable of integrating operational leadership with an understanding of regulatory compliance and ethical business practices.

Qualification Requirements

Students entering a Stern MBA program are required to hold a four-year bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in the U.S. or an equivalent degree from a foreign country (in some cases, this is a three-year degree).
If you submit your application prior to the conferral of your bachelor's degree or equivalent, we will accept and evaluate your application. If an offer of admission is made, it will be contingent upon graduating from your undergraduate program prior to the first day of class.
You must include transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate institutions you have attended showing a list of all courses taken, credits earned, grades received and the name of the degree earned (if any). There are two options for submitting an unofficial transcript via the online application:
1. Upload a scanned copy (recommended, if possible).
2. Complete and upload the Self-Reported Transcript Form.
Stern has no minimum standardized test score requirements. In addition to the GMAT and GRE, NYU Stern also accepts the Executive Assessment Test (EA), MCAT, LSAT, and DAT. Read more below. We consider only your highest overall scores. Therefore, feel free to re-take a test if you believe you can improve your performance. A valid standardized test score is required for all MBA applicants to the Full-time and Luxury and Retail MBAs.
