NYU's Dual-Degree initiative in Science and Engineering, offered through the NYU Tandon School of Engineering (previously called Polytechnic School of Engineering), enables academically exceptional and driven students with technical inclinations to simultaneously complete a liberal arts science major and a conventional engineering curriculum. This program perfectly suits those passionate about STEM fields who also desire a well-rounded liberal arts foundation before immersing themselves in engineering studies. After successfully finishing this five-year curriculum, graduates earn two Bachelor of Science degrees - one from the College of Arts and Science and another from NYU Tandon. Graduates with this dual qualification typically enjoy outstanding career prospects.
Participants fulfill all College Core Curriculum mandates except the foreign language requirement, which is waived. (Their mandatory math and science coursework naturally meets the Core's Scientific Inquiry prerequisites.) The program offers scheduling flexibility for certain courses, and students entering with AP credits may reduce their semester workload or create space for additional elective choices.
