The Bachelor of Science in Teaching Science for grades 7-12 allows students to specialize in biology, chemistry, earth science, or physics.
This program combines intensive coursework in the selected scientific discipline with essential teaching methodologies, preparing students to design and modify science curricula for diverse middle and high school classrooms. Teacher candidates develop skills to tackle social justice concerns, unconscious bias, educational equity, gender considerations, and cultural diversity while employing innovative approaches that enhance science instruction.
The curriculum concludes with two semesters of hands-on teaching experience in either public or private schools. Graduates qualify for New York State teaching certification covering grades 7-12, with additional authorization to teach grades 5-6.
