This Bachelor of Science in English Education for All Grade Levels provides students with the chance to investigate how we interpret literature (including both traditional and digital media) as a cultural communication medium and how literary analysis serves as a distinct approach to examining the connection between readers and texts, along with written language as a means of expression. The curriculum covers composition and literary works (encompassing British, American, and diverse cultural texts), analyzes methods for incorporating reading and writing into lesson plans, and teaches students to create, implement, and assess educational resources and techniques.
The degree concludes with two semesters of hands-on teaching experience in middle and high school environments. Graduates qualify for New York State teaching certification covering grades 7-12, with additional authorization for grades 5-6.
