The Bachelor of Science in Teaching Science for grades 7-12 allows students to specialize in biology, chemistry, earth science, or physics.
This program combines intensive coursework in the selected scientific discipline with educational training, preparing future educators to teach science effectively. Students explore instructional techniques, curriculum design for diverse classrooms, and approaches to fostering inclusive learning environments that consider social justice, equity, and cultural diversity in science education.
The curriculum concludes with two semesters of hands-on teaching experience in public or private schools. Graduates qualify for New York State teaching certification for grades 7-12, with additional authorization to teach grades 5-6.
