The rigorous and selective Global Public Health (GPH) undergraduate programs offer CAS students an interdisciplinary approach, blending public health with another College discipline (GPH isn't an independent major), while leveraging faculty and courses from across NYU. This innovative design meets the growing global need for cross-disciplinary public health professionals. The curriculum combines classroom learning with hands-on experiences and study abroad components, equipping graduates with versatile skills for diverse career paths.
NYU's School of Global Public Health (GPH) provides the global public health coursework, offering interdisciplinary education at all academic levels. GPH capitalizes on NYU's worldwide network, harnesses the university's innovative academic community, and drives transformative research to improve health equity worldwide.
This dual major includes a biology specialization focusing on genetics/genomics, infectious diseases, or environmental health. It enables students to investigate groundbreaking life sciences and their applications to pressing global health issues. Alumni are exceptionally qualified for graduate programs in healthcare fields or research-oriented positions.
Comprehensive departmental advising is essential for this challenging program. Students must fulfill all College Core Curriculum requirements (First-Year Seminar, language, writing, and Foundations courses). If you will have completed your country's pre-university education (equivalent to U.S. 12th Grade) before arriving to NYU, or if any of the following apply to you, you are eligible to apply to NYU as a first-year applicant:
You are completing an internationally-recognized equivalent, such as the IB Diploma, or
You are applying from countries with school leaving qualifications based on the British educational model, and will have completed the A-level equivalent (neither O-levels nor (I)GCSE results will be sufficient for admission), or
You are currently enrolled in a foundation year program outside of the United States and have completed secondary school graduation requirements from your country as outlined in the International Qualifications Tool, or
Your highest degree earned by the time you plan to enroll at NYU is either a certificate or diploma.
