The English Department at New York University explores and instructs in English-language literature across all eras and regions. As a sizable academic unit, we're recognized for our expansive perspective on the field, interpreting literature as encompassing all forms of written media. Our approach examines how texts are created, reproduced, distributed, and interpreted, along with the systems of categorization and frameworks of appreciation applied to them. The research techniques we utilize and teach encompass detailed textual analysis, cultural examination, historical and archival investigation, literary and media theories, book history, and digital humanities.
This monthly feature will highlight students making significant contributions within or beyond the English department's academic setting. They might have produced exceptional seminar papers or Honors Theses, or perhaps they're applying their English major skills to compelling internships at publishing firms or literary agencies. Through this series, we aim to showcase the varied passions and accomplishments of our students while illuminating the contemporary significance of pursuing an English degree at NYU and in today's global context.
