Discover innovative approaches in planning, architecture, and design with an emphasis on health and wellbeing. Incorporate cutting-edge technologies and connect scientific insights to introduce fresh strategic outlooks for addressing health challenges stemming from global environmental issues. Engage with computational design, prototyping, smart materials, or climate modeling systems to envision future spaces, reconsidering how architecture and urban environments influence human life. The Master of Science in Architecture, Health and Design (M.S.AHD) is a 30-credit, two-semester post-professional graduate program. We encourage applicants with degrees in planning, urban design, architecture, or related design fields such as healthcare, interior, industrial, or product design, as well as those skilled in design technologies (simulation, visualization, robotics, fabrication), computational design, or advanced materials.
Our integrated curriculum combines design studios, labs, and core/elective courses with a refreshed research-driven focus on health-oriented design. You'll investigate approaches including systemic and strategic design, healthcare facility planning, product-scale prototyping, spatial performance evaluation, and material innovation. A culminating studio project will integrate professional, historical, theoretical, social, and material understanding while examining multidisciplinary themes bridging design, technology, and healthcare.
This collaborative environment may foster an emerging paradigm of speculative interdisciplinary practice, drawing from diverse professionals, industry partners, and health science experts.
