The Global Studies program at The New School takes an interdisciplinary approach, enabling students to critically analyze worldwide phenomena such as migration patterns, environmental disparities, wealth gaps, and activist movements. You'll cultivate cross-disciplinary thinking to devise inventive approaches - both locally and internationally - for fostering greater fairness in society. Students in Global Studies rigorously assess systems of power while studying urgent challenges, gaining insights into contextual factors and underlying causes that inform their ability to craft novel solutions. Hands-on learning forms a core component, with chances to implement knowledge through practical courses, internships, community service, and research initiatives in NYC and overseas. Classroom discussions provide opportunities to collectively process these experiences, bridging theoretical frameworks with real-world applications while examining thought-provoking questions that arise.

This program strongly prioritizes active learning, guided research projects, and specialized coursework that leverages the institution's strengths across social sciences, international languages, communication studies, creative design, business administration, sustainability research, and metropolitan governance.
